Episode 42: The Hidden Root

Zhu Di (4th son Ming Emperor Hongwu) arrests Bang-won and the Joseon entourage; when his bodyguards threaten Bang-won, Moo-hyul goes Bang-won’s defense. Later on, to save their lives, Moo-hyul engages one Zhu Di’s men a gladiator combat.

Moo-hyul wins the gladiator match Zu Dhi’s warrior. Yeon-hyang’s help, Bang-won and his party are allowed to pass Liaodong. But Moo-hyul must be left behind to serve Zhu Di’s bodyguard. Bang-won tells Moo-hyul that, Master Hong’s help, he must become the best swordsman Zhu Di’s army.

King Taejo orders the execution deposed King Gonyang and the remnants the Goryeo royal family.After King Gongyang is strangled death, Cheok Sa-kwang takes his children and hides Banchon.

After the capital is moved Gaegyeong Hanyang, Jeong Do-jeon establishes the office historiographers who begin to compile “The Annals the Joseon Dynasty.”

Boon-yi and her group have begun to lead comfortable lives Banchon, as they serve the students and teachers Sungkyungkwan and continue their intelligence-gathering work. Later on, Boon-yi stumbles upon a secret, late-night gathering Confucian scholars and Sungkyunkwan students, Jeong Do-jeon urging them to become the foundation Joseon.

Jeong Do-jeon and other Confucian scholars establish the “Hidden Root.”
